Kalliope (/keh’LAI.eh.pee) in Greek mythology, is the head of all Muses, presiding over music, song, and dance. The wisest of the Muses, Kalliope is often depicted holding a writing tablet and a roll of paper or a book. Kalliope is known as the goddess of eloquence and epic poetry and is the inspiration for archetypical storytelling.

Kalliope Transformational Leadership was founded in 2020, initially as an institutional development consultancy for nonprofit theatre groups in Salt Lake City, Utah. Working with groups focused on amplifying unheard voices and telling the stories of marginalized communities, Samantha Miller provided strategic and tactical support to fledgling theatre companies and fringe production projects.

Discovering opportunities to work with other non-profit groups and social services organizations, Samantha broadened the scope of Kalliope’s services to include leadership development, grant writing, and strategic communication planning for any non-profit group with particular commitment to social justice and outreach to marginalized communities.

Moving to Minneapolis in 2021, Samantha quickly became embedded in the local theatre scene, while working for youth-centered social services organizations. At the same time, they networked with the broader non-profit community to explore opportunities for work in DEIB awareness and education.
